'Ròs tearc' Scottish Pink Tourmaline on a Scottish Gold & Silver Pendant

'Ròs tearc' Scottish Pink Tourmaline on a Scottish Gold & Silver Pendant

ròs tearc = rare rose

The centrepiece of this beautiful necklace is a cabochon of extremely rare Scottish Pink Tourmaline (Rubellite), sourced from Glenbuchat, a privately owned estate on the outskirts of the Cairngorms National Park.

The craftsmanship exhibited in the goldwork of this pendant is truly remarkable, showcasing meticulous attention to detail and intricate carvings in the form of Celtic knotwork. Partial areas of the Celtic knotwork and the claws embracing the gemstone are crafted from genuine hallmarked 'ALBA' 14-carat Scottish Gold, beautifully complementing the 925 sterling silver base.

Pendant measures approximately 38x18x5mm.  Gemstone measures 25x18mm.

Pendant will come with a 18"-20" sterling silver rope twist chain, presentation box and accompanying Scottish Gold pamphlet, as well as a Scottish Gold authenticity certifcate.  If buying online, there is free premium shipping for this item, so please choose 'free shipping' at checkout as we will automatically send this on a tracked service.

  • Full excavation permissions gained, this material was sourced from Glenbuchat, a privately owned estate in the Cairngorms, in the late eighties/early nineties.  The material we have was obtained during a private geological outing, led by Dr David Anderson, Michael McMullen & geologist Andy Moffat.   The aim was to determine if there was a motherlode of this gemstone, after shards were spotted on the ground surface.  Sadly, only the surface material was ever found, and permissions have since closed - so there is no more of this very rare Scottish gemstone to be had.
