Aquamarine, a pale blue to seafoam green Beryl, gets its name from the Latin aqua (water) and marine (of the sea). Traditionally linked with youth and happiness, it was believed to protect sailors, and rare deep-blue stones are highly prized, becoming Colorado’s state gem in 1971.
