Tanzanite has a striking blue or violet colour and was discovered in the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro, therefore earning its name from the east African state of Tanzania. This gemstone is considered a geological rarity as it is only found in this area - making it rare and desirable, apparently 1,000 times rarer than diamonds! Along with Turquoise, it is considered the birthstone for December. Healers say Tanzanite can assist in nurturing, emotional support and has cheerful energies.
