Two Skies was fortunate to acquire a remarkable collection of Scottish gemstones from prospector Dave Reid.
These Scottish Sapphires were collected during several expeditions to the Argyll region. Displaying rich, vibrant blue colours unique to this part of Scotland, they are among the finest examples we have seen.
For many years, Dave worked as a salmon gamekeeper on Scotland's rivers, where his passion for gold panning led him to search for rare gemstones. Later, while working on major engineering projects, including the Cairngorm funicular railway, his knowledge of Scotland's geology helped him uncover some exceptionally rare gem material.
To this day, we have encountered no one else who has found gem-quality sapphires from this locality, with the exact source remaining a closely guarded secret known only to Dave Reid.
Dave currently lives in Inverness in the Scottish Highlands and still regularly goes on gemstone prospecting expeditions, finding new outcrops and new gems.
