'Aingil' Scottish Chalcedony Scottish Gold & Sterling Silver Ring

'Aingil' Scottish Chalcedony Scottish Gold & Sterling Silver Ring

aingil = angelic

The centrepiece of this unique ring is a genuine faceted 1ct Scottish Chalcedony, made popular in Victorian times with the fashion for luckenbooth brooches and pebble jewellery.

The craftmanship on this ring is spectacular - it has been painstakingly hand-finished with intricate Celtic knotwork and carvings.  Design details and the gemstone collet are in natural hallmarked 14ct Scottish Gold, on a 925 sterling silver base which has hand-hammered dotwork detail.

Ring is fixed size at Q½ (UK sizing) or 8¼ (US sizing).  Gemstone measures 7mm diameter and band is 5mm at widest point, tapering to 3mm at middle rear.

Ring will come with a presentation box and accompanying Scottish Gold & Scottish Gems pamphlets.

  • Our Chalcedony is sourced from Ardownie  in Dundee.  A gem traditionally esteemed by Scottish jewellers , this delicately clouded variety of Agate formed throughout the country's ancient lava flows.  Popular in Victorian jewellery, particularly in Scotland, where they were cut, faceted and set into 'pebble jewellery', which are fast becoming collector's items.
