Lewisian Celtic Twist Sterling Silver Ring
Lovingly hand-mined and polished Lewisian, set in 925 sterling silver, with a Celtic Twist design. Ring stone measures roughly 13x10x4mm.
ADJUSTABLE RINGS
The clever adjustable feature allows this ring will fit sizes Q-V (UK) and 8¼ - 10¾ (US) due to the open design of the band. Comes presented in a Two Skies jewellery box with story card, ready for gifting.
As setting adjustable rings can sometimes be a delicate procedure, we are more than happy to set the size for you (please check description for size range) before we send it out to you - just let us know in the 'gift message' field.
RESIZING ADJUSTABLE RINGS
It's quite easy to change the size of the ring yourself. Just go slowly and be careful, manipulating the inner area of the band with warm fingers rather than pulling at the end sections. This will help maintain its round shape. The ring can span several sizes without compromising the original design. However, once set, it is advisable not to resize it again. Silver is soft and can become brittle and snap if bent too frequently.
At Two Skies, we think that "To own a piece of Scottish Lewisian is to own a piece of Scotland itself. By purchasing this beautiful piece you are connected not just to Scotland but to its age old traditions and folklore."
Lewisian comes from the Isles of Lewis, Harris and North Highlands. It is collected from the ancient bedrock of Scotland and is one of the oldest rocks in the world, up to 3 billion years old (3,000,000,000 years!). It is a unique composition of many minerals including Feldspar, Epidote and Quartz, all of which are part of the "Lewisian Gneiss" complex. Lewisian has been treasured for thousands of years by the clans of Scotland. It was used by the Megalithic cultures to construct monuments such as the Callanish stone circle on the Isle of Lewis
