Cornish Amethyst & Amethyst Sterling Silver Ring

Cornish Amethyst & Amethyst Sterling Silver Ring

Natural Amethyst from Cornwall, bezel set in this beautifully designed 925 sterling silver ring. It features a deep purple amethyst set in the tail.

The clever adjustable feature allows this ring will fit sizes O-S (UK) and 7¼-9¼ (US) due to the open design of the band.  Gemstone measures approximately 16x10X3mm.  Comes presented in a Two Skies jewellery box with a Colourful Quartz story card, ready for gifting.

RESIZING ADJUSTABLE RINGS

It's quite easy to change the size of the ring yourself. Just go slowly and be careful, manipulating the inner area of the band with warm fingers rather than pulling at the end sections. This will help maintain its round shape. The ring can span several sizes without compromising the original design. However, once set, it is advisable not to resize it again. Silver is soft and can become brittle and snap if bent too frequently.

  • The traditional birthstone for February is Amethyst, a variety of quartz that comes in a range of purple shades and can display some lovely stripes and banding. Amethyst was used as a gemstone by the ancient Egyptians and was largely employed in antiquity for intaglio engraved gems. A legend from ancient Greece tells us that a maiden called Amethyst was turned into a quartz crystal by the goddess Diana, to protect her from the attentions of Dionysus, god of drunkenness and frivolity! Once he saw what had happened, Dionysus was full of repentance and poured away his goblet of wine, forever staining the clear crystal purple. To this day, amethyst (from the word 'ametusthos' or 'not intoxicated') is used as a charm against drunkenness and to keep one calm and in control.
