In recent years, August has become one of only 3 months which can be presented by three different birthstones. The original Sardonyx (a type of banded chalcedony) was joined by lime green Peridot in 1912, which quickly became the primary gemstone for the month. The addition of Spinel in 2016, which comes in a variety of colours and is often mistaken for rubies or sapphires, gives August babies diverse & interesting choices when it comes to choosing their favourite.
