Burn Anne Agate Sterling Silver Ring

Burn Anne Agate Sterling Silver Ring

This beautifully banded natural Scottish Burn Anne Agate has been set in a 925 sterling silver adjustable ring.

The clever design of the band means that this ring can be set to span ring sizes M-S (UK) and 6¼-9¼ (US).   Gemstone measures roughly 24x12mm.   Comes presented in a Two Skies gift box with a 'Scottish Agates' story card.

Please note that our photographer's hands are fairly small, please check with a ruler if uncertain of scale.   As setting adjustable rings can sometimes be a delicate procedure, we are happy to set the size for you before we sent it out to you - just let us know in the 'free gift card message' field or at checkout.

RESIZING ADJUSTABLE RINGS

It is quite easy to change the size of the ring yourself as long as you go slowly and are careful, manipulating the inner area of the band with warm fingers, rather than pulling at the end sections – this will help keep a round shape too. This ring will span quite a few sizes without compromising the original design concept. Once set, it is advisable not to resize again, as silver is quite soft and can become brittle and snap if bent too frequently.

  • This gemstone was found near the source of the Burn Anne just south of Galston in Ayrshire, Scotland. The Burn Anne is a small stream running northwest and draining into the River Irvine.

Agates are defined as an ornamental, semi-precious stones consisting of a hard variety of chalcedony (quartz), typically banded in appearance.  Scottish Agates are renowned across the world for their particularly fine colouring and patterns. They feature in the Scottish crown jewels and have a history of being highly-prized by the Celts, who in ancient times used them as a talisman for luck and protection. The rough gems are collected by hand, on the beaches and fields along the east coast, including the localities of Fife, Angus, Ardownie, Burn-Anne, and Ayr.
