April's Alternative Birthstones

April's birthstones are Diamond, Clear Quartz & White Topaz. Due to the same kind of intense and clever marketing which pushed Opals from the chance to be the favoured choice for engagement rings (see this blog post for the full story!), Diamond has been considered the 'chief' birthstone for April since 1912. Considerably more affordable, White Topaz & Clear Quartz not only offer the same enviable sparkle and clarity of a Diamond, but bags more character too.
