This fascinating and unique sterling silver wrap style ring is set with Blue Kyanite and rare Spessartine Garnet.

Kyanite measures approximately 10x8mm and the Spessartine Garnet is around 13x10mm.  Ring band is 3mm at narrowest point (rear).

Though best worn at approximately size Q (UK) or 8¼ (US), the ring will size a little up or down due to the open design of the band, without drastically compromising the original design concept too much.

Comes presented in a Two Skies gift box.

RESIZING ADJUSTABLE RINGS

It is quite easy to change the size of the ring yourself as long as you go slowly and are careful, manipulating the inner area of the band with warm fingers, rather than pulling at the end sections – this will help keep a round shape too. This ring will span quite a few sizes without compromising the original design concept. Once set, it is advisable not to resize again, as silver is quite soft and can become brittle and snap if bent too frequently.

Kyanite

The name Kyanite means 'deep blue' in Greek, however Kyanite can come in many different colours! Said to have wonderful comforting and calming properties, Kyanite, along with Citrine, is said to have the ability to resist absorbing negative energy, so that it never needs 'cleansed'.

Spessartine Garnet

Spessartine Garnet, which includes Spessartite and Imperial Garnet, takes its name from the Spessart district of Bavaria. Spessartine Garnets are a fairly unusual variety of Garnet, with a fine orangey-red colour. Garnet varieties can be found in many colours ranging from orange, yellow, purple, green, blue, pink, brown and black to colourless. Red shades are the most popular. They also vary in size from grain of sand to apple! Legends about these rare stones are plentiful, as they have been held precious by many different cultures spanning the continents and the ages. One interesting story is that the only light aboard Noah's Ark was provided by the glowing of a gigantic garnet!

Sterling Silver (925%)

Why do silversmiths use 925%? Measured in parts per thousand, pure silver (999%) is too soft so silversmiths mix it with other metals to make it it harder. The purer the metal, the higher the polish, but it is a lot softer (thus less durable). The harder the metal is, the more hard wearing the jewellery is, but it will also tarnish easier as it has less silver content. Therefore, the silver industry set a standard percentage content for fine silver (925); what we know as "sterling silver". At Two Skies our silversmiths use 925 (sterling) silver for ring shafts and moving parts, and a very high 950% on our stones settings, which enables us to get a strong jewellery item with a beautiful and secure stone setting, without any gluing. Each piece of our jewellery is hand stamped with our Two Skies Hallmark alongside the recognised industry 925 Hallmark.
