Perthshire Smoky Quartz
A sibling of Cairngorm Quartz, this is an exceptional Smoky Quartz which has been sourced from the Grampian Mountains range in Perth & Kinross. The quartz from this area can display a light smoky appearance through to slightly darker smoke with hints of golden colour. Clean stones produce fantastic fire and sparkle when facet cut! The Grampians have been designated as a National Nature Reserve since 1964, making these spectacular quartz specimens rare and highly desirable.

Garnet
From the east African country of Mozambique, this garnet has a warm, deep red that is similar to that of a ruby, and is often mistaken for one to the untrained eye! A good cut accentuates the gem's beauty, as seen in this faceted example. Used in adornment for over 5,000 years, Garnets were popular in ancient Egypt from around 3100 BC, being used as beads in necklaces as well as inlaid jewellery (gems set into a surface in a decorative pattern). Garnet’s many myths frequently portray it as a symbol of light, faith, truth, chivalry, loyalty and honesty.

Sterling Silver 925%
Why do silversmiths use 925% silver? Pure silver, measured at 999 parts per thousand, is too soft for practical use. To increase its hardness, silversmiths mix it with other metals. While purer silver has a higher polish, it is also less durable. Conversely, harder metals are more durable but tarnish more easily due to their lower silver content. Thus, the silver industry has established a standard of 925 parts per thousand for fine silver, known as "sterling silver."
At Two Skies, our silversmiths use 925 (sterling) silver for ring shafts and moving parts, and a very high 950 parts per thousand for our stone settings. This ensures strong, beautiful jewellery with secure stone settings, without any glue. Each piece is hand-stamped with our Two Skies hallmark alongside the recognized industry 925 hallmark.
