The Two Skies Story
With a ‘take only what is needed’ ethos, our pieces are not just beautiful, they are thoughtful and low-impact. Featuring Scottish gemstones, ethical Scottish Gold, or recycled and upcycled stones, each creation is a talking point. They carry a wish or a promise, connecting wearers to Scotland’s ancient roots and traditions.
Two Skies is never about fast fashion. Every piece is carefully made, telling a story. and we hope it becomes part of yours, whether as a beloved heirloom, a gift of love, or a celebration of a special occasion.
“No adventure is too crazy, no risk is too great, no journey too extreme, when Adam McIntosh sets about sourcing his rare and unusual gems. Born in Scotland and raised in Papua New Guinea, he is renowned for his environmentally sound and ethically sourced stones.”

Adam McIntosh left Edinburgh in 2001 with a dream to travel the world as a kilt-wearing folk singer and storyteller but along the way, he discovered his true vocation: gemstones.
Time spent with the Mi’kmaq tribe in Nova Scotia sparked his love of trading and bartering. In Arizona, he learned from Native Americans dealing in turquoise. In Australia, prospectors celebrated the discovery of an opal seam by gifting him offcuts in exchange for a round of beers. Hair-raising adventures followed, from escaping gangsters in the Dominican Republic to living with a witchdoctor in rural Africa.
Returning home with a growing collection, Adam began selling gems from a blanket in a wheelbarrow, often being moved on for not having a street trader’s licence. The business grew steadily, adding skilled silversmiths and official stalls. In 2015, the first Two Skies shop opened on Edinburgh’s Royal Mile.
Today, Two Skies thrives online with three Etsy shops and its very own website continuing the story of unique, hand-crafted gemstone jewellery.
