Beautifully polished basalt from the volcanic plug upon which world-famous historic Edinburgh Castle is sited, giving spectacular views across the city. This rock is oval cut and bezel set in a sterling silver ring.

 

The clever adjustable feature allows this ring will fit sizes P-S (UK) and 7¾-9¼ (US) due to the open design of the band.  Rock measures approximately 8x6x5mm.

Comes presented in a Two Skies jewellery box, ready for gifting.

 

 

RESIZING ADJUSTABLE RINGS

It's quite easy to change the size of the ring yourself. Just go slowly and be careful, manipulating the inner area of the band with warm fingers rather than pulling at the end sections. This will help maintain its round shape. The ring can span several sizes without compromising the original design. However, once set, it is advisable not to resize it again. Silver is soft and can become brittle and snap if bent too frequently.

Castle Rock is a volcanic plug in the middle of Edinburgh upon which Edinburgh Castle sits. This beautiful polished basalt comes from the 350 million year old volcanic plug itself.

Sterling Silver 925%
Why do silversmiths use 925%? Measured in parts per thousand, pure silver (999%) is too soft so silversmiths mix it with other metals to make it it harder. The purer the metal, the higher the polish, but it is a lot softer (thus less durable). The harder the metal is, the more hard wearing the jewellery is, but it will also tarnish easier as it has less silver content. Therefore, the silver industry set a standard percentage content for fine silver (925); what we know as "sterling silver". At Two Skies our silversmiths use 925 (sterling) silver for ring shafts and moving parts, and a very high 950% on our stones settings, which enables us to get a strong jewellery item with a beautiful and secure stone setting, without any gluing. Each piece of our jewellery is hand stamped with our Two Skies Hallmark alongside the recognised industry 925 Hallmark.
