Lovingly hand-mined and polished Lewisian framed in a Pictish inspired Triskele design in 925 sterling silver. Earrings each measure approximately 21x21mm, not including eye and sterling silver ear hook. Lewisian stone is 6mm diameter.
Please note that we have more than one pair of earrings in stock, and the pair you receive, although extremely similar, may not be the exact pair in the photographs. If in doubt, you can ask us for a quick snapshot of what we have in stock, but we feel the pairs we have are so similar that the pair in the photographs give a very fair representation, and any differences in the unique stone patterns are very minor.
At Two Skies, we think that "To own a piece of Scottish Lewisian is to own a piece of Scotland itself. By purchasing this beautiful piece you are connected not just to Scotland but to its age old traditions and folklore."
Lewisian Triskele Sterling Silver Earrings
Lewisian comes from the Isles of Lewis, Harris and North Highlands. It is collected from the ancient bedrock of Scotland and is one of the oldest rocks in the world, up to 3 billion years old (3,000,000,000 years!). It is a unique composition of many minerals including Feldspar, Epidote and Quartz, all of which are part of the "Lewisian Gneiss" complex. Lewisian has been treasured for thousands of years by the clans of Scotland. It was used by the Megalithic cultures to construct monuments such as the Callanish stone circle on the Isle of Lewis
