Lovingly hand-mined and polished Lewisian, set in a 925 sterling silver adjustable ring which has a textured, antiqued finish. Ring stone measures roughly 40x24mm. The clever design of the band means that this ring can be sized to fit ring sizes J-W(UK scale) and 5-11 (US scale).
As setting adjustable rings can sometimes be a delicate procedure, we are happy to set the size for you (please check description above for size range) before we sent it out to you - just let us know in the 'free gift card message' field.
At Two Skies, we think that "To own a piece of Scottish Lewisian is to own a piece of Scotland itself. By purchasing this beautiful piece you are connected not just to Scotland but to its age old traditions and folklore."
Lewisian Sterling Silver Statement Ring
Lewisian comes from the Isles of Lewis, Harris and North Highlands. It is collected from the ancient bedrock of Scotland and is one of the oldest rocks in the world, up to 3 billion years old (3,000,000,000 years!). It is a unique composition of many minerals including Feldspar, Epidote and Quartz, all of which are part of the "Lewisian Gneiss" complex. Lewisian has been treasured for thousands of years by the clans of Scotland. It was used by the Megalithic cultures to construct monuments such as the Callanish stone circle on the Isle of Lewis
